In my last post, I wrote about acceptance\u2014 about learning to let go of who we were and embrace who we\u2019re becoming. Today\u2019s theme moves from acceptance to what comes next: resilience.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Resilience isn\u2019t about being unbreakable. It\u2019s about getting knocked down, learning from it, and standing back up\u2014 again and again. It\u2019s the quiet discipline that turns setbacks into stories.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
For my artist hour, the subject was the mandala. At first glance, it looks complex\u2014 layers of symmetry, detail, and geometry that seem impossible to build and no real place to start. But once you break it down, you realize it\u2019s actually simple. A few basic shapes, repeated with care and consistency, to form something beautiful.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
That\u2019s resilience in a nutshell. Life might look chaotic from the outside, but when you slow down and focus on one pattern, one step, one breath at a time, it starts to make sense. Each repeated action\u2014 each line drawn, each challenge faced\u2014becomes part of something bigger.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
The Inktober prompt for today was \u201creckless.\u201d That word made me laugh, because we\u2019ve all had our reckless moments and it is easy to come up with a few candid examples from my adventures. I don\u2019t know what you picture when you hear it\u2014 maybe a good story, maybe a lesson learned the hard way\u2014 but it\u2019s part of being human. Recklessness teaches us where the edges are. And resilience is what we use to climb back from them.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
Whether it\u2019s a reckless choice, a rough patch, or a bad tattoo you learned from, resilience is the art of turning the temporary mess into lifelong meaning. It\u2019s about owning your past without letting it define your limits.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
That\u2019s how I see tattooing, too. Every healed piece tells a story of endurance\u2014 the sting, the time, the patience, the care. The skin adapts, the ink settles, and the art lives on. It\u2019s proof that beauty and struggle can exist in the same space.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
Resilience is built one small, intentional act at a time\u2014 just like the mandala. It\u2019s not about being fearless; it\u2019s about showing up again after fear has had its say.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
Next time, I\u2019ll be writing about purpose\u2014because after we\u2019ve trusted, waited, accepted, and endured, it\u2019s time to ask what all that effort is building toward.<\/p>\r\n\r\n
