When a tool becomes an enabler<\/h2>\r\n

Brandon and Nathan recently talked about artists using Pinterest designs in tattooing, and whether it is stealing in their Tattooing 101 YouTube video<\/a>. I thought about this, and feel that we draw inspiration from the world around us. \u00a0So as long as we are doing just that, finding inspiration in someone else\u2019s work and giving credit where credit is due, while applying our own style and take on the subject, it is ok.<\/p>\r\n

This morning, while listening to worship music and enjoying a cup of coffee in meditation, I had a thought come to me. \u00a0It wasn\u2019t accompanied by any sort of grandeur, but was still very clear to me. \u00a0<\/p>\r\n

I recently used Artificial Intelligence (AI) to clean up some art that I created. \u00a0The thought was about how easy it is to come up with an idea and then give it to AI to perfect. \u00a0The part that bothered me is, this is what I used to do with ideas and issues through prayer. \u00a0<\/p>\r\n

That is the part that hit me like lightening. \u00a0As cool as AI is, if we are not intentional<\/a> and careful, this tool can become an enabler that hinders our creation, and even worse it can replace our relationship with the creator. \u00a0<\/p>\r\n

I came up with this idea after reading the bible verse, and fed my rough idea into AI to generate the image.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\r\n

The answer I received, and what I am choosing to believe, is that AI is a tool and I need to view it as just that and choose to use it responsibly, but not rely on it.<\/p>\r\n

As I continue to create original art and tattoo designs<\/a>, I will always give credit to any influences I use, to include AI. \u00a0<\/p>\r\n

I do not want to mislead anyone in my tattooing, by creating this perfect AI generated tattoo designs without the knowledge and experience required to replicate it in skin in a way that is readable, translates properly for years to come, and with a clear understanding of Placement and Flow<\/a> that works with the\u00a0body.<\/p>\r\n

If you have ideas for a tattoo based off something that you found on Pinterest, the internet, or anyplace else, feel free to bring it to me and we can work on it together to make it truly your own unique design. \u00a0That gives it meaning, and you can know that once it is applied it will look every bit as good on you as it does on paper or a screen\/monitor.<\/p>\r\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
