I\u2019ve also carried more than I ever realized.<\/p>\r\n<p>The hardest part isn\u2019t admitting that it\u2019s taken a toll \u2014 it\u2019s accepting that healing requires the same courage as the fight did. For years, my focus was on holding it together, being the leader others could count on. But this part of the journey isn\u2019t about rank, uniform, or image. It\u2019s about honesty, humility, and learning to stand as just me \u2014\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/honorandink.com\/Blog\/acceptance-becoming-just-john\/\">John<\/a>.<\/p>\r\n<p>I know it won\u2019t be easy. Healing rarely is. But just like building a tattoo, it starts with intention, patience, and trust in the process.<\/p>\r\n<p>Layer by layer, line by line, I\u2019ll start to uncover what\u2019s underneath the scars \u2014 and maybe even find new meaning in them.<\/p>\r\n<p>This is my next mission. Not about surviving, but about becoming whole.<\/p>\r\n<h3>Every rebuild starts somewhere.<\/h3>\r\n<p>This week marks the start of a different kind of work \u2014 not on metal, not on machines, but on myself.<\/p>\r\n<p>After years of operating in survival mode, I\u2019m finally learning what it means to rebuild from the inside out.<\/p>\r\n<p>This original drawing I did \u2014 a classic hot rod with fire roaring behind it \u2014 captures that feeling. It\u2019s not about destruction; it\u2019s about transformation. Some days, that means slowing down when every instinct wants to push harder. Other days, it means hitting the gas and trusting the road ahead \u2014 even when the destination isn\u2019t clear yet.<\/p>\r\n<p>I\u2019ve learned that you can\u2019t rush the process. Whether it\u2019s tattooing, recovery, or art, real progress happens one layer, one line, one step at a time.<\/p>\r\n<p>I\u2019m not afraid of the flames anymore.
